I'm evaluating CamUniversal (which may well be the reason for all my woes), and I found a few unique problems.

First, XviD crashes the PC-hard. Bricks it, in fact, whenever a recording starts. So moving on from that...

Simply put, if I set up one action for a motion detection on a single camera, i noticed that even though I could add more than one action, they were forced to be the same.

Scenario:

1. I have one action that says email only.
2. A add a new action that says, for example, make a video.
3. I go back to the first action, and that action has been changed to be the same as action 1!

So although I can adjust what _triggers_ the action differently for each action, the activity assigned to each action is the same-regardless of how many separate actions are defined.

I really need this to work, as I have an IC-1500WG (see my article on it for full details here: http://blog.atcp.us/2008/10/13/the-mystery-ip-camera/), and it only has an option to capture a still on motion.

I'll post about the other problem with it in a separate email.

TIA!

I am not quite sure I understand your situation but I use CamUniversal for both scheduled and motion captuure jobs at the same time.

eg

Scheduled jobs

Capture several pictures with diferent files names and thumbnails every half hour
Capture a picture every 15mins for time lapse of the day
FTP every half hour+1min the half hourly captured pictures
Move pictures to archive folder at end of day
Delete thumbnails from archive folder at end of day

Motion capture running at same time as scheduled jobs:

Capture picture
FTP new pictures
Sound alarm

It was the flexibility of creating multiple jobs and times that I liked about CamUniversal as opposed to competitor software which I found was too restrictive.

You can see the result in my signature below. The motion capture is still unreliable in that in goes mad sometimes so it may seem that all shots are the same!!

m4rk,

Thanks for writing.

But the situation remains.

Are the symptoms I'm describing part of just the unregistered version (think crippleware), or is there a genuine bug here, or is this the way it's supposed to be?

TIA!

:)

You could be rignt about the crippleware. I have a registered version but there should be somewhere a description of what limitations there are with the free version. Sadly, Marc doesn't seem to be around to help out on here either.

Hi,

on the first steps side you can see how to adjust the motion detector http://www.crazypixels.com/camuni-manual-part7.htm

No, it is not possible to trigger each action different!
ALL jobs have the same actions!

You can add several jobs, but the difference for the jobs is, that they have different time ranges and detection adjustments. So in the night you want to detect only every 10 sec., at the day every 1 sec.. And the sensitivity of the camera is lower with less light etc.. So you create several jobs with different settings for the detection. BUT the action which is executed is for all jobs the same.

The trial version is only restricted in time and camera number!
