I have CamUniversal configured to capture images from 18 * Arecont 5100 5 Mega Pixel cameras every 60 seconds, the RAM used by CamUniversal process is an amazing 1.2 GByes if I add more cameras this amount of memory increases, CamUniversal will crash with the following error in the Event Log when the memory usage reaches about 1.5 GB.

Source : .NET Runtime 2.0 Error
Event ID : 5000

EventType clr20r3, P1 camuniversal.exe, P2 3.0.2779.14856, P3 46bd6214, P4 system.drawing, P5, P6 471ebf30, P7 43a, P8 2c, P9 system.outofmemoryexception, P10 NIL.

Why does the program require so much memory and what can be done as I would like to monitor many more cameras. I am running on Windows 2003 Server Standard, 4 GB RAM.

I have justed tested once more on my system with 32 netcams. Previewing (interval 1sec.) and picture capturing from the scheduler every 20sec. for all cameras. The memory usage differs between 175 - 340 MB.

It's not normal, that CamUniversal consumes so much memory without freeing.

Have you tested how the memory consumption is, if you only run the preview and not the scheduler, if you reduce the resolution, etc.?
Are you receiving still pictures or streaming?

Please start CamUniversal with the parameter -analyze.
The protocol file analyze.txt will be created.
Open a console and type> CamUniversal -analyze
In the protocol file analyze.txt you will see some messages from the program. And you see every minute how the consumed memory develops.
Run CamUniversal and send me the created procotol file by email!

I have emailed the analyze.txt file as requested. The program seems to consume the majority of memory within a minute of loading and increases and then decreases by about 200MB when it takes pictures. I had more cameras defined with no scheduals and this caused it to crash within a minute or two of loading so I think it is down to the number of cameras that it tries to get a preview picture from and not how many have scheduals.
